Why Notion recurring tasks don’t show on your calendar

If you set Repeat on a Notion task and then open Calendar view for next week, the week is empty. That is not a filter bug. The later occurrences are not rows yet.

The calendar is empty because the rows do not exist

Notion Repeat (all plans, since 8 Nov 2022) creates one page when the time comes. Calendar can only show pages that already exist.

  • they’ll appear on my calendar only at the day they’re already due which makes it very bad for planning.

I want Notion to make sure not just the task for the next week will be created but the tasks for a few weeks after also.

  • a recurring meeting every monday will appear on monday morning and won’t be there the week before.

  • I can go a year in the future on the calendar and nothing will be there.

As of 1vk0jnd (9 Aug 2026), a 12-week calendar-ahead request is still being asked.

Not a timezone bug

2sync (3 Apr 2026): “No future task preview… they do not exist in your database until the scheduled moment arrives.” Clock/Every {frequency} on Plus since 18 Feb 2025 is day-of only.

What people try

  • Date-shift formulas that roll the due date after completion.
  • Create-in-advance templates (see commenters on 1c4pupf).
  • Leave recurring planning for Google Calendar.
  • RecurringTasks ($12/mo, 3-rule free) — spawn the next page on a schedule.
  • Some people prefer date-shift so they do not get “infinite laundry” filling the horizon.

What Cadence does

Connect a task database. Define a rule. Preview the next 10 occurrences (read-only). Confirm is the only write. Your edits in Notion win. One row per (rule, date).
